Play Retro Games & Music
TV, Retro Games & Entertainment
We have a number of entertainment options for you at Cherry Cottage.
Retro Video Consoles
In the "Retro Arcade" cupboard below the TV you will find a DVD player, an NES console with 30 games built in, and a Megadrive console with 40 games built in.
You may need to plug in power for the console you want to play into the power adapter in the cupboard and plug in the controllers. The power adapter itself also has a switch that may need turning on.
All devices run off the HDMI ports on the TV. The TV should automatically change to the correct input when you turn on the console/DVD, but if not you can use the TV remote control to choose the input. Press the Home button on the remote to go into the menu, then navigate to the inputs.
TV Streaming
The TV is set up with the following streaming services:
- Netflix (please choose the Cherry Cottage profile)
- BBC iPlayer (please choose the Cherry Cottage profile)
- Samsung TV
- ITVX
- Channel 4
- Channel 5
- U
- BBC Sounds
- YouTube
Prime Video and Apple TV apps are installed, but you will need to log in with your own account to use those services.
DVD Library
I have collected around 100 movies from the 1980s on DVD for your viewing pleasure. Who does not like an 80s movie?
The DVD player is in the gaming cupboard under the TV. If you turn the TV on first, then the DVD player, it should automatically switch to the DVD input. If not, it will be on one of the HDMI inputs.
Music Centre & Bluetooth
The Philips 1980s stereo music centre is available for you to use. The record player and radio work, and you can choose the AUX option to play music from your phone via Bluetooth.
To use Bluetooth, first switch it on in the cupboard below. It is the switch on the left-hand side of the multi-plug.
Once on, you should see the Bluetooth option BT5.0-Audio on your phone.
Our Vintage & Retro Collectibles
We love our collection of 80s collectibles, but they are mostly for display only.
Feel free to look at and handle them, but please put them back where you found them, and note that the electronic items are not working.
The main exception is the stereo system and record player. Feel free to get some 80s tunes going.
